College & Beyond

SATs

The SAT, though largely reviled, is a very interesting test, and one that can be improved on dramatically with proper preparation.

We teach the SATs, like all tests, directly from the form and content of the test itself. The SAT is divided into Critical Reading, Writing and Math Sections, so we stress the basics: vocabulary, reading, writing, grammar and math. Furthermore, though the College Board knows the foibles of the teen mind, we know them better and teach students how to avoid their own worst pitfalls. We focus on the test and the teen.

Individual Prep—

Individual prep is generally conducted over a minimum of eight sessions of 1.5 hours each by either an Associate Tutor or Stuart Servetar. Students are expected to take at least four proctored practice exams. AT's meet with students in-office or in your home at no extra cost. Stuart Servetar meets with students in-office only.

Group Prep—

Our SAT Courses are conducted in-office and at least four proctored exams are included with each course. All courses are led by experienced Associate Tutors. Master classes are also available from time to time with Stuart Servetar at the helm!

All SAT students recieve a copy of Remain Clam! Test Taking & the Teenage Mind: SAT Edition.

PSATs

The PSATs are taught, like the SATs, from the form and content of the test. Students get their first exposure to and practice in what is essentially a precursor to the SAT. In our prep we begin to acclimate students to the mentality behind these tests and familiarize them with the material involved.

Students may begin to prepare for PSATs as they wish. Some students choose to start preparing at the beginning of their junior years [usually by the middle/end of August], others well before—it’s never too early to learn these tests and master the basics.

Individual Prep—

Individual prep is generally conducted over a minimum of eight sessions of 1.5 hours each by either an Associate Tutor or Stuart Servetar. Individual students are expected to take at least three proctored practice exams.

Group Prep—

Our PSAT Course is conducted in-office in  5 session of two hours each and three proctored exams are included with each course. All courses are led by experienced Associate Tutors. Master classes are also available from time to time with Stuart Servetar at the helm!

All PSAT students recieve a copy of Remain Clam! Test Taking & the Teenage Mind: SAT Edition.

Proctored practice ACTs are offered as part of the prep.

Graduate School Entrance Exams

As students become older their minds become harder to parse, still we persevere and attempt to teach them the things they need to know to gain entrance into the graduate schools of their choosing.

GRE – Graduate Record Examinations

General test taken by students wishing to gain entrance to graduate school. The test is computer adaptive and tests verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing. We teach students how to deal with the particular quirks of that system as well as the required material.

GMAT – Graduate Management Admission Test

Tests Verbal, Quantitative and Analytical Writing Skills

Taken by students wishing to attend business school, the GMAT tests verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing skills. Like the GRE, it is computer adaptive.

LSAT – Law School Admission Test

Tests Reading Comprehension, Argument and Game Skills.

Taken for admission to law school, the LSAT tests reading comprehension, argument, and game skills. We work with students on how to improve upon and attack all three areas. Proctored practice tests available.
